After having one or more teeth surgically extracted by your dentist, there are steps you can take to increase your comfort and decrease healing time.
- Keep constant biting pressure on the extraction site. Take two gauze pads, fold them in half, roll them into thirds, and place them in extraction site.
- No suction motion with the mouth: no drinking from a straw, no spitting.
- Avoid eating sharp foods; no chips, etc., that may poke the extraction site.
- If site continues to ooze, you can moisten a tea bag and bite on it. The tannin in the tea will help the clot form.
