Preventing and Managing Dental Implant Mechanical Complications Mandatory for Workshop H302
Date: Friday, February 21, 2025
Time: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Speakers: Charles Mastrovich and Robert Friedstat
Pre Reg: $90.00 – Dec $90.00
Jan: $130.00 – On Site $130.00
The highest quality of surgically placed implants and prosthetic dentistry can still result in mechanical complications such as screw loosening and fractures. With over 45 years of combined experience in restoring implants, two general dentists provide a unique perspective on preventing and treating these mechanical complications and failures. This course will examine many of the issues surrounding such failures. Why did it happen? Could it have been anticipated or prevented? Is it possible to effectively resolve the immediate problem while re-engineering the case for increased stability? Additionally, understanding your limitations regarding when to safely proceed or refer is crucial. If proceeding, what tools and training are needed to prevent further complications? All these issues will be systematically examined and reinforced through multiple Implant Mechanical Rescue (IMR) cases gathered from actual case histories.
Please watch the brief discussion on the contents of this course and workshop H302 to determine if this course is right for you.
After this course, you will be able to:
- Recognize the etiologies of implant mechanical failures
- Recognize options in case construction which influence force distribution, mechanical integrity, and long-term implant health
- Decide what to do when an implant mechanical complication presents, and more importantly, what not to do to prevent additional complications
Attendee Requirements:
This course is mandatory for Workshop H302 “Mastering Prosthetic Repairs: Retrieving Loose and Broken Implant Screws
CE Credits: 4.00

Mastering Prosthetic Repairs: Retrieving Loose and Broken Implant Screws L202M Mandatory for this Workshop
Date: Saturday, February 22, 2025
Time: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Speakers: Charles Mastrovich and Robert Friedstat
Pre Reg $490.00 – Dec $490.00
Jan $515.00 – On Site $515.00
Screw retrieval will be explained using high-powered magnifying loupes and a microscope to remove screws both broken and loose from the implant. Four types of screw loosening and breakage situations will be demonstrated with the protocol and techniques to retrieve the screws that the speaker has developed. All participants should bring torque drivers to check calibration and eliminate the possibility of improper torquing of the prosthetic screw, which can cause loosing.
After this course, you will be able to:
- Understand the protocol to recover and replace implant screws with no damage to the implant
- Properly use torque driving devices
Attendee Requirements:
- Loupes/Safety Glasses
- L202M Required for this workshop course
Nobel Biocare, Bien Aire Handpiece, Surgitel, Ziess Dental Microscope, and Mountz Torque Calibration Machine
CE Credits: 4.00
